Meet Dean Cohen!
Born in the rugged mountains of Idaho, Dean Cohen quickly developed a knack for bushwhacking, wood splitting, and adventure! There, in the midst of mother nature, he learned resourcefulness, steadfast determination, and the ability to make the best of any situation.
We imagine all that log splitting was probably karate practice, because he holds a black belt in the martial arts. Quite impressive, considering he was an epic fail at every other sport he’s tried… errr... I mean, well done Dean, well done! (now can you please take me out of this choke-hold?)
Maybe it was all that time in the woods, or maybe it’s his innate resourcefulness, but somewhere along the line, Dean became a stellar scavenger for furniture. If you leave it on the curb, he’ll probably take it!
If Dean’s not hunting for curbside treasures or trailblazing the mountainsides, he’s probably finding new paths along Boise’s greenbelt or tending to the jungle growing on his balcony. He also enjoys studying music theory and perfecting Super Mario tunes on his electric piano.
Like all of us, Dean loves his video games! He’s spent an ungodly amount of hours pwning noobs in Rainbow Six Siege and knows every room’s name on every map. He’s currently grinding through Monster Hunter World, and has nearly finished Hollow Knight--only the Pantheon of Hallownest awaits.
Dean initially went to college for chemistry, but quickly realized that he hated it. Luckily, he discovered the joys of game development and programming, and has been passionately pursuing progress in that career path ever since. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Games, Interactive Media and Mobile Technologies, with a minor in Psychology, from BSU. He then went on to pursue a career in his field, by developing applications for the forest service, wildfire dispatch, and even the virtual reality industry.
When Dean isn’t programming professionally, he’s probably tinkering with his own projects. He’s done several game jams for both standard games and VR content, and has perfected the exact amount of caffeine needed to sustain himself for 3 days straight. He’s even worked with a friend to create a cool fighting game, then built it into an old school arcade cabinet! You can play it yourself at the Spacebar Arcade in Boise.
We’re excited to have Dean join our team and help us create more weird, wonderful, funny games for you to enjoy.
