Meet Scott Meyer!
Legend says he was born into this world clenching a game controller in one hand, a programming book in the other, and a Sony Walkman blaring punk rock music. Not sure if that’s true, but Scott Meyer is a natural when it comes to making games and making people smile. He’s an Idaho native and all-round super nice guy with a chill disposition—essential for someone that has to wrangle in everyone’s code and make sure it all works together nicely.
Growing up, Scott played baseball, basketball, and Final Fantasy… but mostly Final Fantasy. He worked a variety of jobs to put himself through every technical class he could find, including super nerdy stuff like artificial intelligence and evolutionary computing. His love of learning and technology continued as he taught himself additional programming skills afterwards—a habit he still keeps today.
Graduating from the University of Idaho, with a head full of knowledge and heart full of enthusiasm, he was eager to jump into the world of game development—but was scared away by the infamous EA Spouse Letter! So, he took the more sensible path and wrote corporate software for things like medical diagnostics, assisted living home management, and tracking silicon around the world (insert Beavis & Butthead jokes and laughing here).
One glorious day, the clouds parted, the sun shown down and the gamedev gods gave Scott a sign to just “go for it” and take a chance in the games industry. He immediately went to work building Blue-Collar Astronaut completely on his own—including console ports! From there, he partnered up with local industry veteran Ponywolf and co-created awesome titles like Knights of the Card Table. Epic!
When Scott isn’t making games or doing silly little gamejams, he’s probably playing them. Name a genre and he’ll tell you a game he loves in it! He’s a sucker for classic JRPGs. Old classics like FF7 hold a special place in his heart, and he finds himself losing hours to Final Fantasy Free Enterprise.
When he’s not maxing out his levels or irresponsibly playing Hitman games with his kid, Scott can be found crafting homebrew beers, playing Dungeons & Dragons, or watching cartoons like Futurama, Steven Universe, and the more sophisticated content such as Adult Swim. If he’s not at home, he’s probably enjoying the great outdoors or gettin’ crazy at a punk rock show.
