Miscellaneous Updates

Dean Cohen

Hey all! Dean here, and I got a couple small little updates to Pigeon Simulator. These updates are pretty small and simple, but will add up in the long term in making this game special. So without further ado let’s see what’s new in Pigeon Simulator.

Flying Higher and More Straight

Me and Aubrey updated the flying controls after discovering we needed to slightly rework how our pigeon controls their flying pitch.

Old method of flying. With no “auto-flight-leveling”.

New flying method. After a set duration, the pigeon will automatically level out their flight.

Animation Sequencing

This NPC is sitting after finishing their dialogue. I must say he has some great core strength.

We’ve updated our animation system with StoryMods, so now we can pair idle animations with emotes. This means a character can cheer with joy and then stay posed in a happy idle. Right now as animations are still being made we don’t have that exact scenario but the framework is there!

Debugging Console

Use the Jahro Unity plugin, we have access to a visual list of some our generic commands that can be used while playing the game.

Finally we made substantial updates to our debugging system. These are a few commands that we now have access to while playing the game. While pretty simple, these will be invaluable for finding bugs and more quickly testing new features.

That’s all for now! Thanks for sticking through this slightly more technical blog of small features. Feel free to check out some of the other blogs to get a glimpse into the magic of video game makin’!
